Swiss Citizen (art. 42 FNIA)
Spouse and unmarried children under 18 have a right to residence if living together. Appropriate housing required. Deadlines: five years for spouse and children over 12; twelve months for children under 12 (art. 47 para. 1 FNIA).
C Permit Holder (art. 43 FNIA)
Same rights as for Swiss citizens. Same deadlines apply.
B Permit Holder (art. 44 FNIA)
More restrictive: no automatic right, subject to authority discretion. Conditions: cohabitation, appropriate housing, financial independence (no social welfare). Art. 8 ECHR (family life) may found a right in certain situations.
Provisionally Admitted (F Permit, art. 85 para. 7 FNIA)
Family reunification only after three years. Appropriate housing and sufficient income required. Limited to spouse and minor children.
